Wanna try a thirty day free trial of a hair style without actually cutting/dying/re-styling your own hair? we're here to help! This entry contains some useful tips about how to ‘cheat’ your way into a new hairstyle. Making a transition between hairstyles can be a scary thing, especially if the transition’s results are semi permanent, i.e. a new color or drastic change in the length of your hair. But before you jump the gun and chop all of your hair off or dye it some awesome color, you may want to take the new style on a test drive, and there are ways to do that!

  1. Online Simulation.
Using an online haircut simulation is one way to get a better idea of how a new hairstyle will look on you with out jumping the gun (or spending money, in some cases).
Pros:
  • You didn’t have to cut your own hair.
  • You can try a variety of styles this way.
  • Cost nothing, in most cases.
Cons:
  • May not be accurate to your dimensions (a 360 degree preview is not an option for a like, all of the services).
  • you may have to signup to use these services (which will mean others seeing you pictures maybe).
  • Simulator may be of bad quality, leaving user dissatisfied with result.
  1. Get a recommendation from a stylist.
Getting a recommendation from a stylist is a better way to determine whether or not a new cut will suit you. In this case, you may want to call around to several different shops and see if you can schedule a consultation with a stylist. Make sure to take photos of the desired haircut with you to your appointment and be open to the scrutiny of the stylist.
Pros:
  • A professional consultation may help you feel more confident about making the transition into a new hairstyle.
  • Talking with someone who makes a living as a stylist is a good way to learn about what lengths, colors, cuts suit you. You can take that knowledge and apply it to future styles so that your haircut nearly always suits you.
  • You may end up finding a shop that you want to get you hair done in this way.
Cons:
  • Consultation may come at a price. It’s best to inquire as to whether or not this is the case prior to attending the meeting.
  • Talking with too many professionals yields an ineffective and negative experience for some. Try sticking to three consultations at the most if you’re more anxiety stricken the most.
  • You may be guilted into going to that stylist for a haircut, even if you already have a preferred stylist, but never do this unless you're completely comfortable with changing stylists.
  1. Buy a wig.
Okay so like this is what I do. Like, I look at a bunch of hairstyles online, think to myself,’Oh, I want to try that hairstyle someday.’ and then I buy a wig to see if it will suit me. So I recommend doing this if you really don’t wanna cut your hair without knowing if the style will work out for you.
Pros:
  • Style is temporary at best, you didn’t get the haircut if the wig looked bad.
  • You didn’t have to go in for a consultation. (unless you did, and still bought a wig just in case)
  • If the wig looks bad on you, you now have a costume accessory.
  • You didn’t have to leave home (if you ordered online)
  • You didn’t have to wear pants.
Cons:
  • You spent money on this.
  • You have no idea what to do with the wig now that you’ve no use for it (assuming that the cut didn’t suit you).
  • The wig looks different that the picture (which we will discuss later).

LAST MINUTE ADVICE:

Did your wig look different than the picture?
  • Soaking it in one part fabric softener with four parts hot water may help (if the wig is made of synthetic fibers).
If you plan to cut and style the wig yourself then you should know in advance what methods you plan to use and how they will affect the fibers of the wig. do not use blow-dryers or high, direct heat on synthetic fiber wigs! It will destroy your wig!
That’s it for now, but if you have any questions about the subject, then shoot me a message in my ask!
