Benefit's 'Benetint'!

  

       There are few things in life that can ruin the start of the day so much as a bad lip stain; it can literally mess your whole day up, or it does mine anyway. I mean, I put stain on when I don't want to share my color with my cups and eating utensils, and I don't want something that smells too strong or is sticky, taking too long to dry and making my lips sticky. Very few products that I've tried go the distance like Benefit's Benetint! It covers all the criteria for an enjoyable lip stain as outlined in our previous article about how to enjoy your lip products.

Color.

      The stain is a deep rose colored hue that goes on sheer. I noticed that it's a lot lighter out of the bottle, but that's a good thing in my regard; I thought it would be really dark at first so I bought a balm to put on under it so that I could wear down the color. Guess I get to keep the extra balm though, ended up not needing it at all.

Scent.

      It smells like roses, go figure. It's more of a natural, subtle scent, not like a synthetic rose scent that's been amplified by fillers. Very delightful, I could wear the smell alone like a perfume, given I had the opportunity. I'm sure that the fact that it's scented at all is not good for the skin of your lips, but I haven't had any problems with this item so far.

Durability.

      The color lasted through eating, drinking, and sleeping for me, I was really (pleasantly) surprised! There was no color transfer from my lips to other surfaces, and the color didn't fade either. Also, it isn't syrupy or overwhelmingly thick; very watery and the build-able color is a plus. Three thin layers can upgrade your look to a night-out ensemble effortlessly. The one thing that I must warn about is that it takes a bit more time to dry compared to other stains, but who cares? It's not sticky after it dries; and it makes you're own lips feel even softer!

Price.

      It's 29.99 per/.42 ounces, so your guess is as good as mine when it comes to whether or not to buy from a beauty depot or straight from Benefit. Die-hard enthusiasts might advocate supporting the brand by buying directly from the manufacturer, but I say do what hurts your wallet the least.

Applicator.

      You guys, the applicator is a brush, it's the most suited applicator for this product. It's simple and it's hygienic; porous enough to trap an ample amount of the stain without runny application, but slick enough that it doesn't trap particulate from your lips and such. It does tickle your lips a bit, or at least it did mine anyway. Feels a bit funny at first but you'll get used to it.

Packaging.

      Benetint in rose comes in cute, bubbly packaging that shouts for attention, basically. It's a slender little red box with variable polka dots and white text, on the inside there a catch that stops the bottle from moving around. That's because the bottle is made of this glass, so be careful if you know you've got some serious butter fingers.

Overall.

       I've had nothing but good experiences with this item, so 4.5/5 stars it is! Among the other stains that I've tried, this one was definitely one of my favorite. I would buy it again if I ever ran out, and I recommend trying it, especially if you're a first-time user of lip stains.
