If you've been in tune with the chatter around the blogosphere for the past month, then you know that BA Star is the phrase that's on a lot of lips, and in a few hands. Now, before I say anything else, I want to give a little background:
BA Star is a Cosmetics and spirit merchandise company that offers many different items from eyeshadow and loose glitters to headdresses.
They currently offer customers the option to receive samples before making a big purchasing decision and pro-rated bulk orders for professionals! Their shadow palettes are highly pigmented and can be used wet or dry to create numerous looks. and speaking of looks, here's two that I've created with no more than two shadows each so far!
One shadow smokey eye:
2. Starting from the outer corner of your eyes, apply the wet shadow in a light, sweeping motion until the desired effect is achieved. Blend.
shimmering golden eye-lights:
2.Use an eyeshadow sponge-brush to create a winged shape on your upper lid; blend this line out to give way for subtle shimmer.

get this look!1. Prep your lids with your favorite primer; dampen the fibers of your eyeshadow brush and dab lightly into desired color.

shimmering golden eye-lights:
get this look!1.Prime your lids as per the usual habit.
2.Use an eyeshadow sponge-brush to create a winged shape on your upper lid; blend this line out to give way for subtle shimmer.
3. Use a small, angled shadow brush to create a sharp line on your lower lid, getting as close to the lash line as permissible; dampening the brush makes this easier.
4. Using your favorite eyeliner pencil, soft line the lower just to its mid-way point; you should use a creamy kohl like wet'nwild's color icon so that the motion of the tool doesn't put unnecessary stress on they skin.
5. Close your eyes and allow the color to transfer to your upper water line, this should only take about ten seconds.
6. Apply your favorite mascara.
Here I've used just two of the colors offered in the BB smokey palette but there are a total of three plus two glitter pans for a dazzling, flirty smokey eye! Here are some swatches for reference:

"For great smokey eyes: apply the darkest color from lash to crease, blend medium color over darkest color. For highlights, apply the lightest color beneath brow. Use the glitter over your eyeliner for sparkle and shine! Go from day to night, for more tips visit BASTAR.com"
Color.
I love the choice of colors in the palette because they are very earthy to me, and they can be that barely there makeup or that hot night out on the town look without being to weighty. They're very concentrated too, so in regards to economics, it definitely gets a vote of confidence from me.
Scent.
Seriously, I should only include this when there's something amiss with my makeup, shouldn't I? All makeup smells like the components contained unless they put a perfume in it. That aside, it smells alright; in fact you'll hardly notice it!
Durability.
No bad notes here! Everything holds up swimmingly, especially the glitter, which, since we're on the subject, is very nice. The glitter doesn't cut or irritate the skin and the gel is nice and smooth. Application is a breeze and that's a historic first in glittered cosmetics for me.
Price.
These palettes retail for 8.75, but here's something to sweeten the deal: if you use the code 'BBSMOKY' at check out, you'll snag these palettes for half price!

Applicator.
My kryptonite had to be the applicator. The brush isn't that great, but we can use our nice studio brushes with this item instead so it's completely forgivable!

Packaging.
The case is slim and fits in my makeup bag, which is great because there's so much other stuff in it right now that I can't fit my custom kits or anything else really inside. I will point out that it does not have a mirror; I like that. I have a million products in my bag with mirrors in them and they're all too small! It was smart of them to leave that out of the design, it's just one of those things that would be mildly irksome.
Overall.
The final verdict for this palette is 4/5 stars! I'm generally skeptical about trying eyeshadows because until recently, they would be the kind that only yielded color on light complexions, I'd mistakenly grab those kind repeatedly and I became a review-a-holic! BUT, I took a trust leap with BA Star (because this was free), and because the colors really called to me.. and I'm addicted to eyeshadow, I admit it. If you want to snag yourself a set, please, please, please do yourself a huge favor and use the code 'BB SMOKY' when purchasing the palettes on BASTAR.com. And try using them wet, seriously, they're great!
