Aha! I've found a good mid-ground with L'oreal's true match series at long last. Even when there are over thirty-three different shades that are divided by tone (cool, neutral, warm), it can still be hard for the best of us to find our near-perfect match. Factors such as lighting, skin condition, skin reactivity, and even the time of day can all weigh it when it comes to picking out the best suited shade. AND, even after all of that, the placement of a skin tone swatch can become an act of self sabotage! L'oreal has seemingly taken all this into consideration, and created eight complimentary shades per undertone to cater to the fair and deep skin tones in every tonal bracket.
Color.I'm very happy with the color of this line because it adheres to my skin very naturally while diffusing discoloration from marks rather than just sitting on top of them. I also like the healthy glow that the powder gives my skin; it's not flat, and it's not a 'grease-halo', the natural shadow in my facial contours is maintained. Very nice!
Scent.I'm beginning to think that I shouldn't include this anymore because most cosmetics smell like they have titanium dioxide in them (because they do). This powder is not an exception, smells like sunblock.
Durability.
Because I have oily skin and I'm still experimenting with product combinations, this powder literally sticks to my face, (which is probably not a good thing for my pores), but that's what primer is for, right? For dry skin types, I recommend using primer with the powder anyway because any aberrations in your skin can be corrected using dimethicone or silicone based primers. Just be careful if you happen to be allergic to either of those; your next choice would be a base that uses glycerin or mineral oil, because they are supposed to moisturize and shield like if they were a second skin.
Price.10.99USD appears to be the going rate for this powder, foundation, and concealer. The loose powder goes for about three dollars more and if you really way to forgo this foundation for it's pricey-ness (since it is technically supposed to be a lower-end line, but not too low apparently) look in a PG Brand saver, Red Plum, Or coupon mailer for coupon's worth the dollar off amount. Locally, Ulta has been having a lot of L'oreal Paris bogo sales, so checking them weekly is also a good idea (obviously may only be in effect in some areas).
Applicator.I like this powder enough, but the powder puff-thing that was provided is, in so many words, pathetic. I would go on about how bad it is, but it's not a big deal to me. It's bad, but it's replaceable. With like a beauty blender.
Ingredients.Talc, Zea Mays / Corn Starch, Dimethicone, Zinc Stearate, Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate, Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate, Zeolite, Sorbic Acid, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tetrasodium Edta, Butylparaben, BHT, Panthenol[+/- May Contain: Ci 77491, Ci 77492, Ci 77499 / Iron Oxides, Ci 77891 / Titanium Dioxide, Mica, Ci 77007 / Ultramarines, Ci 15850 / Red 7 Lake ].
Packaging.
So there is a plastic ribbon separating the makeup from outside contaminants. Peel that off and you're now dealing with a front-clasping compact that encloses a mirror compartment, complete with the optional, toss-able powder puff. The platform enclosing the actual powder pan is beveled, so any loose powder is going to collect on the edge of the raised section. Frowney face, but just make sure to collect it up with a nice powder brush!
Overall.I'm giving this powder a five star rating. What I love about this powder-my-nose-to-perfection product is more than enough to neutralize any negative notions that I may have about it in respects to the criteria covered here. In the future I want to try the concealer crayon and liquid foundation!
