Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Underage Red

|

Okay so this is my first ever liquid lipstick. I was trying to hold off on buying one until Jeffree Star's line took off, but it took like a year and my patience wore extra thin so, I bought this as an interim. It's not bad, in fact I even like the other colors this line comes in, but since I don't frequent sephora anymore, that means I'm gonna have to kiss this line goodbye. But first, a review:

First, I really love the depth of color. I don't usually like loud, cool reds because the seem washy against my complexion, but we are climbing mountains with this one. I had both underage red and outlaw red, I prefer the latter because it's got that deeper blue red thing going on, it's still loud like the underage red is, but it's a darker shade and is more complimentary to my undertone.
These don't have a smell, you know what I mean? A lot of cosmetics smell like hot plastic or talc but these don't, they have not smell, it's great. I understand why they put fragrance in cosmetics when they smell like a hot mess, but these tubes thankfully didn't need that. This formulation is thick too, kind of like wet chalk paste or gouash water, but not as toxic. I like that, it makes me feel like a painter.

It dries to a velvet finish really quickly so be deliberate when applying and only use about two coats; the formulation is very thick, and like I said, kind of like chalk paste. Despite being so thick, it can transfer in the presence of moisture, so it's not really a good idea to apply this over lip balm or water, also avoid licking your lips to replenish moisture when it gets feathery, which it will tend to without primer. The ingredients don't seem too bad according to cosDNA:
lsododecane, Cyclopentasiloxane, Trimethylsioxysilicate, Kaolin, Dimethicone, Polybutene, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Beeswax, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Propylene Carbonate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Rosa Canina Flower Extract. May Contain (+/-): lron Oxide (CI 77491), lron Oxide (CI 77492), lron Oxide (CI 77499), Titanium Dioxide (Cl 77891), Red 7 Lake (Cl 15850:1), Red 30 Lake (Cl 73360), Yellow 5 Lake (Cl 19140:1), Red 28 Lake (Cl 45410:2), Red 6 (CI 15850).
I was surprised to see beeswax, but it's probably such a small quantity that it almost isn't worth the mention (topically speaking).
Oh well I didn't like this one very much but if you're looking for an alternative to lime crime, then this is a fine jumping off point ( and I mean that in a very liberal sense). I'm giving it 3 of five stars.
